Working with local groups to save animals
We're pleased to work with local rescue groups to save more animals.
Rescues are not shelters, but rather all volunteer-run organizations that place at-risk shelter pets in foster homes until a permanent home can be found for them. Rescues are generally overworked, overrun and overwhelmed, but they carry on because they love a particular breed, or in the case of all-breed rescues, they just want to save as many pets as they can. Rescues are a great option for surrendering your pure breed pet. Below are links to the local rescues we are aware of.

If you run a local rescue and would like to be inlcuded in this list, please provide the required information in this guidline.
1. Rescue Status Requirements
a. The Frances R. Willis SPCA, requires the rescue group to provide proof of Non-Profit status, 501 © (3). If not a 501 © (3) status proof of request for Non-Profit status. If not requesting will require three references one of which will be a Veterinarian.
b. The rescue group will provide copies of their foster agreements, adoption contracts, and sterilization contract if applicable.
c. The shelter fee to the rescue is $25.00 to cover the cost of shots, deworming, and sterilization.
2. The Frances R. Willis SPCA will notify rescue groups after 14 days from the initial intake date receipt of an animal. Will give updates to the rescue group on a bi-weekly basis.
a. For animals that are not able to adapt to the shelter or need more work or medical needs we will contact the rescue group at the time the assessment is made.
3. The Frances R. Willis SPCA will not microchip animals released to a rescue group.
4. Spay or neuter of an animal will be accomplished prior to turn over of an animal to the rescue group. For any animal that can not be spayed or neutered prior to release the rescue group will contact the shelter monthly with status.
5. Inspection of either the rescue group kennel facility or foster home will be accomplished prior to release if this does not put the animal in jeopardy, i.e., health issues.
