Tucker
If it were not for ya'll I would not have found my best friend & the greatest blessing
I could have asked for in 2011! Tucker is doing very well, such a sweetheart. Such a well-behaved
bundle of joy! God bless, Anna
Duffy
Duffy was adopted from the Frances R. Willis SPCA in May 2008 and now lives in Ocala, FL. He even has his own Facebook page. As you can see, Duffy has a good life. He travels, goes to the dog park, has many friends and even has reached an understanding with two cats. He weighs in at 75 lbs. and maintains his weight with a sound diet and exercise. G. Beloto
WYATT
Wyatt was a deaf American Bulldog who arrived at the SPCA a month ago. Through the tireless efforts of SPCA staff and volunteers, Wyatt is now enjoying life at an animal rescue in Georgia. A staff member and volunteer drove Wyatt the five hours to his new home. His handler at the rescue is also deaf. And when they met, she communicated with Wyatt in sign language and he responded!
Jelly Bean and Butterscotch
My son and I took two of our former FRWSPCA residents through their Canine Good Citizenship tests and they both passed with flying colors. Jellybean was adopted in 2006 and Butterscotch in 2007, and both are registered pet therapy dogs through Therapy Dogs, Inc. They both visit special needs students at Gregg Middle and Spann Elementary Schools. Both have been in dog training for several years under the leadership of Michael Lauer, who is a Training Instructor with PetSmart in Summerville. We are proud of the dogs' accomplishments and have always appreciated the staff and volunteers at the shelter for keeping them (Jellybean and Butterscotch) safe and happy until they came to their forever home! TobyWe adopted Toby in April 2011. We had come just to "look," but fell in love with his adorable little face. Toby was so shy at first, but has grown to be an outgoing, playful, happy boy. After thinking for a while about a name for him, we decided it didn't need to be changed; Toby fit him perfectly. Toby is so smart! We taught him to sit, stay, lay down, shake and roll over. He learned these tricks in no time at all, mostly because he will do anything for a treat! Toby loves to run...FAST! He gets along great with our little one-year-old son. They are partners in crime! Alex has learned to throw Toby's toys for him, and play tug of war. It's the sweetest thing to watch them play. We are so grateful to have found Toby and have him be a part of our family! He is very loved and well taken care of. Thank you for bringing us together.
Mike, Alisha, Alex and Toby.
Cooper
I was adopted on June 30th, 2011 by the Hart family of Bowman. You knew me at the SPCA as Dewey, but my new family changed my name to Cooper. I have settled in my new home and I'm getting along very well. Since leaving all my friends at the SPCA, I have met all my new family members and their pets, been on a camping trip, back and forth on quick trips to the garbage dump or to get a newspaper, and to Vacation Bible School. I've even been to school to pick up children. My folks bought me all kinds of chew toys. I guess they didn't want me to keep chewing on their windowsills anymore. My folks found out that I love shoes. I don't know what it is about shoes, but I love them. Oh, and phone cords, too! They had to buy a new, shorter phone cord. I just love chewing on things. I like to hide things from my folks; especially under their pillows on their nice big fluffy bed. They find my things all over the house, pull them out and I have to hide them all over again. My work is never done. I'm getting used to my new place pretty good and my new family loves me a lot, but I wanted to thank you for taking care of me while I was there (SPCA) with you and for being so good to me!
KOBE
We adopted Kobe, a Dachshund mix, in Dec. of 2010. He had been surrendered to the shelter in October and then spent time with a foster family, which is where we met him. My daughter saw him on the website and insisted that this was the dog she wanted. He had been very undernourished and while he certainly is not chubby now, he is eating well and looks much healthier. As you can see, his “brother”, Buddy, has adopted him as well. Thanks for giving Kobe another chance at happiness!

SOPHIE (formerly Sabrina)
Sophie was brought to the shelter with her puppies and spent time in Foster Care until her puppies were old enough to be adopted to loving and forever homes. Then is was Sophie's turn to find a loving and forever home. She did!
"We're so happy! They say life is full of mountains and valleys. We wandered in to your wonderful facility just to put our name in and --- there was Sabrina! (Now Sophie). We fell in love with her and your staff was so understanding, tolerating the many visits we made before she was allowed to come home with us. She was home just 10 days when we had to put our oldest Yorkie, Lucy, down. (17 years +). It broke our hearts but I really believe God told us to work into your place at the time we did. You see, we also had a 3-year-old resuce Morkie (Maggie) who was devoted to Lucy and me. Hats off for being the people you are!! Doing what you do!" God Bless, Robin E.

BRODIE
Hey ya'll this is Brodie. I love my new home and family! I'm having so much fun playing with my squeaky toys, going for daily walks, and soaking up the SC sunshine. My family pampers me with car rides, tummy rubs, and rawhide bones. Yum! Thank you Frances Willis SPCA for hooking me up with a loving home.

Sweet Brenna...

Brenna was a foster dog of ours that was very sweet and special. She was at the shelter for a very long time and then went into rescue. The rescue organization also had her for a very long time and eventually deemed her “unadoptable” and stated that she probably should be “put down”. When Kathy Eckels and I found out about this we went into action and had the rescue organization return her to the shelter so that Terry & I could bring her to our home. We had her for a very short time when we found this wonderful home for her. The following is a letter that her new parents wrote to us: Just a note to update you on Brenna. She’s not Brenna anymore but renamed “Baby”! Even though life has been hard for her, he is the lovingest, kindest dog we have ever had. We had to put our “Pookie” dog down March 16th after 21 ½ years. Our pain was and is so deep especially for James as she was his shadow. Baby understands our loss – she initiates hugs and kisses and keeps him company. Our living room is now hers. She has her favorite chair and loves the back yard. I had the gardener bring in pine straw (good flea retardant) so she has the full yard to play. She loves to play with her toys and can run like the wind! Watching her is like watching a flower bloom. She has such a sense of self – all her shyness is gone and she is the keeper of our gate. We know if anything breathing is outside because she lets us know. I thank God each day for Baby and I thank God each day for you both. You gave Baby life. Myrna & James H & Baby

Buddy (formerly Wilson)
Do I look happy and laid back...it's a dog's life...thank you Mary for providing a wonderful home for this boy!!!!!
My name was Wilson but now I'm known as Buddy.
I was adopted in Qctober 2010 and ever since then I have been lovin life!
I have a good home. I am an only pet so I'm kind of spoiled. I love to go to the dog parks. I love to chew on my rawhide bones(among other things we won't mention). I know I am loved very much and I love my owners!
Our Girl Bailey

She is a quiet, happy, sweet little girl who seems to love her new home and family. She has been a wonderful addition and a great amount of company to me while my husband works. She loves to "fight" for her braided rope and really loves her rawhide chews!! She also enjoys her quiet time in the morning resting against my leg while I check e-mail & have my coffee. I think she had a bit of a tough start in life, but she has certainly overcome any obstacles & is well-adjusted and a joy to have around. We made a sudden decision to drop in that day while we were out running errands. I'm so glad we did!!! Kim A.
Water Boy I'm loved so much...thank you, Charles Got it dad!!
I adopted Blue ( known as Duke at the shelter ) in January of 2008. I was looking for a lab mix and I chose Blue because while all the other dogs were jumping up and down at the front of their enclosures as if to say,"Adopt me, adopt me" Blue was scrunged up against the wall and looked as if he had given up hope of being adopted. Unbeknownst to me at the time, he had been there about five months. I took one look at that sad face and knew he was the one whose life I wanted to change. I was told Blue's owners just brought him in, stating simply that "THEY DIDN'T WANT HIM ANYMORE" which would explain his sadness. Blue has been a perfect dog, extremely well behaved, loves other dogs and people, loves children most of all!! If I'm out walking him and he sees a child, he will try his best to drag me in the direction of that child. Blue is, without a doubt, the most obedient dog I have ever had: he listens perfectly, never does anything wrong, very calm and easy going, indoors or out, unless we're talking about swimming and retrieving, then watch out. Like most labs, he's fanatical about swimming and retrieving, easy to get him in the water, hard to get him out. Blue also will not let me out of his sight. Charles K Summerville
